In a tweet on Nov. 25, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson took aim at Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin, accusing him of neglecting to recognize ADA’s advancements in staking. Buterin’s recent interview in which he discussed Ethereum’s roadmap and a suggestion to revamp its staking system in line with Cardano’s design served as the impetus for Hoskinson’s remarks.

During the interview, Buterin suggested adopting the UTxO approach, used by Cardano, relying on unspent transactions, to address centralization concerns distinct from Ethereum’s account-based system.

Hoskinson responded sarcastically, stating, “No worries, Ethereum 3 will have it all sorted,” highlighting his ongoing critique of Ethereum’s staking system and pointing out delays in its development compared to Cardano.

Hoskinson clarified that his tweet wasn’t meant to incite conflict but expressed his confusion at Cardano’s innovations going unnoticed.

Cardano CEO Buterin’s Stance on Staking Centralization

In a recent interview with Defiant in Turkey on Nov. 24, Ethereum co-creator Vitalik Buterin addressed staking centralization issues. He advocated for a redesign of Ethereum’s staking mechanism to enhance decentralization, responding to challenges posed by slower data availability in off-chain systems.

Buterin discussed Ethereum’s upcoming upgrade, EIP 4844, or Danksharding, aiming to increase data map space to 16 megabytes per slot. Post-upgrade tasks involve configuring system parameters, part of Ethereum’s ongoing evolution to tackle scalability and efficiency issues.

Buterin proposed a voting system for future Ethereum changes, potentially eliminating the need for hard forks and signaling a shift towards a more democratic and less disruptive decision-making process.

The Dencun upgrade, a crucial element in Ethereum’s roadmap, is scheduled for an early 2024 launch, aiming to significantly enhance scalability, efficiency, and decentralization.
